About

Besides the Strauß dynasty, the Schrammel brothers were the most popular musicians at Vienna’s social events in the second half of the 19th century. Their instruments were part of the collection at the Kunsthistorisches Museum and are now played by the Philharmonia Schrammeln Wien - an ensemble, made of members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, that came to international fame due to its appearance on TV during an interval of the 2005 New Year’s concert.
