Antheil: Bad Boy of Music (2 CDs)

In his early compositions, the long and physically demanding passages with their rhythmical complexity demand without question use of the entire body. On this brilliant recording you can hear some of Antheil's most interesting compositions, e.g. "Little Shimmy", "The Golden Bird, after Brancusi" or "Jazz Sonata" played by Viennese pianist Gottlieb Wallisch. Between the piano pieces, Karl Markovics (German) and Christopher Roth (English) are read excerpts from Antheil's biography "Bad Boy of Music", published in 1945.
