Bach: Sonatas for Viola da gamba and Harpsichord

One of the Southern hemisphere’s finest gamba players, Australian Laura Vaughan, teams up with New Zealand’s leading Early Music specialist, James Tibbles, for this exquisite recording of JS Bach’s Sonatas for viola da gamba and harpsichord. As these sonatas have repeatedly been transcribed for other instruments (including by Bach himself), James Tibbles presents two of Bach’s keyboard transcriptions of his own solo violin works BWV 1003 and 1005, thus making this recording a concert programme rather than yet another encyclopaedic version of a Bach work cycle.
